On April 30, 2025, The 2nd International Forum on LVA Surgery for Alzheimer's Disease", jointly organized by the Zhengzhou Medical Association and Beijing Jishuitan Hospital Zhengzhou Hospital (Zhengzhou Central Hospital), was grandly held in Zhengzhou. The forum brought together leading experts from China, Germany, the United States, Australia to address the global challenge of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).Renowned experts from microsurgery, lymphatic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, and geriatrics gathered for this event. The forum adopted a hybrid format, combining on-site participation with bilingual live streaming. The forum attracted over 260 onsite attendees and drew more than 1.02 million online views, garnering widespread attention from the professionals, the public and major media outlets, including Henan TV and Zhengzhou TV.Alzheimer’s disease, often referred to as the "thief of memory," is quietly devastating millions of families. Statistics show that China currently has over 10 million AD patients, and it is expected to reach 40 million by 2050. The loss of memory is not just the patient’s burden, it is also a heartbreaking ordeal for entire families.This forum aimed to illuminate a challenging yet hopeful path forward.Distinguished guests included Prof. Jens Wiltfang from the University Medical Center Göttingen and Prof. Jonathan Kipnis from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, the discoverer of the " Brain Meningeal Lymphatic System." Their participation provided cutting-edge international perspectives and highlighted the potential of LVA surgery in treating AD. Over the past year, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital Zhengzhou Hospital has performed over 280 such procedures, achieving an overall efficacy rate of 73%.
